SUDEP FAQs

  • SUDEP stands for Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. 1 in 1,000 people diagnosed with epilepsy dies from SUDEP each year. Many people who die from SUDEP are otherwise healthy, and no other cause of death is identified in SUDEP deaths.

  • Epilepsy is a neurological condition that causes seizures due to its effect on the nervous system.

  • Educating yourself on epilepsy is a fantastic way to show support to the epilepsy community, as feeling understood is an uncommon thing for those with epilepsy.

Other things, such as volunteering for epilepsy non-profits and charities and promoting their social media, becoming Seizure First Aid certified, and donating are all great ways to support the epilepsy community.
