Our Story

“Jackson Casey passed away from SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death In Epilepsy) at age 17. It was only his third seizure. The Casey family has a passion for educating other families about the risk of SUDEP, in the hopes of preventing others from experiencing the tragedy of losing a child. Jackson’s doctors did not tell him that SUDEP was even a risk. In fact, doctors indicated he would outgrow his epilepsy, giving him and his family a false sense of security. In addition to educating our community about the risk of SUDEP, the Casey’s believe it is critical that we change how the medical profession talks with families about epilepsy death risks.”
